Ceuta in danger.

CEUTA, September 15 — JMH International Consortium of Journalists

There is fear in the streets of Ceuta. Members of the JMH International Consortium of Journalists walked through the streets and found a heavy atmosphere.

There is a daily escalation of violence. A few hours ago, fires destroyed the makeshift shelters or shanties of around 100 immigrants who arrived from Africa during the latest invasion. Minutes ago, a fight broke out between immigrants, with one of them injured by machete blows, as in Rwanda but in Spain.

Residents of Ceuta want everyone who arrived during the invasion to leave. This is creating a worrying territorial dispute and a struggle for control of spaces in the autonomous city. The police arrive late and in insufficient numbers.

There are 10 serious clashes every day:

Every 24 hours, around a dozen confrontations take place between groups of immigrants armed with bladed weapons, ranging from machetes to knives and broken glass bottles. In addition to the numerous people injured in these incidents, there are also police officers assaulted and injured by stone attacks from immigrants who are never happy to receive them.

Repeat offenders arrived:

Taking advantage of the chaos in Ceuta, people with criminal records arrived, including individuals under strict orders not to enter Ceuta or subject to deportation orders from Spain, who nevertheless return to their homes and neighborhoods as if nothing had happened.

Meanwhile, the suffering residents of Ceuta watch as their daily lives plunge them deeper and deeper into violence they did not cause.

Hay miedo en las calles de Ceuta. Miembros del Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH estuvieron recorriendo sus calles y el ambiente que se respira es pesado.

Hay una escalada de violencia diaria. Hace unas horas, incendios que arrasaron los ranchos o chabolas de unos 100 inmigrantes que llegaron de Africa en la última invasión. Hace minutos, una pelea entre inmigrantes con uno de ellos herido con golpes de machete como en Rwanda pero en España.

Los vecinos de Ceuta quieren que todos los llegados en la invasión se vayan. Esto trae una preocupante disputa territorial y por el control de espacios en la ciudad autónoma. La policía llega tarde y en un escaso número.

Cada día hay 10 enfrentamientos graves:

Cada 24 horas se produce una decena de enfrentamientos entre grupos de inmigrantes con armas blancas; desde machetes hasta navajas y botellas de vidrio rotas. A los múltiples heridos por estas causas, deben sumarse los policías agredidos y lastimados por ataques a piedras de los inmigrantes que nunca los reciben conformes.

Llegaron reincidentes:

Aprovechando el caos de Ceuta, llegaron personas con antecedentes criminales y con órdenes estrictas de no pisar Ceuta o con órdenes de expulsión de España y que sin embargo vuelven a sus casas y a sus barriadas como si nada.

Mientras tanto los sufridos vecinos de Ceuta ven como el día a día los sumerge más y más en una violencia que ellos no han causado.
