“More of a giveaway than the Final against Spain”; a restaurant in Buenos Aires’ Belgrano neighborhood offers the dish of the day.

“More of a giveaway than the Final against Spain”; a restaurant in Buenos Aires’ Belgrano neighborhood offers the dish of the day.

It could be said that the World Cup Final that Argentina lost without any intention of winning against Spain was the “chronicle of a death foretold” for Argentina’s romance with Messi, Scaloni and the squad of the National Team at this latest World Cup.

Young people no longer want to wear Messi’s shirt. In sportswear stores across Buenos Aires, $100 Argentina shirts are piled up at half price, but nobody wants them. Not to mention the pink shirts of the North American team for which Messi plays.

The World Cup stickers have been forgotten.

People no longer ask: Why did they give away the World Cup? They know they did it, and they are angry.

The clearest indication was the total lack of attention paid to Lionel Messi, who came to the country to say goodbye to his father, Jorge, who died in Rosario in recent hours. There was no airport welcome, no motorcade, nothing.

To make matters worse, some media outlets interested in diverting attention from reality portray as stupid or crazy the millions of Argentines who watched the bizarre World Cup final, in which one team with little inspiration tried to win for 120 minutes while another team left everything served up so that, finally, in the 116th minute, it could lift the cup. Stories about fake tire repairmen or National Team players laughing at the public are of no use.

Argentina’s romance with Messi has been broken, and the rupture extends to Scaloni and the rest of the team.

Oil prices surge due to the new conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.

WALL STREET, July 13 — JMH International Journalists Consortium “The week kicks off with oil back in the spotlight following the escalation of tensions between the United States and Iran over the weekend. The rise in crude prices and heightened tension surrounding the Strait of Hormuz could once again boost local oil and gas companies, although they also add a degree of volatility to the market,” noted Portfolio Personal de Inversiones (PPI). Today, the price of Brent crude is climbing 9.3%, trading at $83.14 per barrel. Reproduction permitted with attribution of the source. JMH International Journalists Consortium
