What happened, guys?

Dato 2: ARA San Juan.

What happened, guys?

France's leading sports outlet, *L'Équipe*, dubbed them "Les Immortels" (The Immortals—just like the famous Buenos Aires pizzeria) mere hours after the debacle that was disguised as a final.

We won't mention objective facts: Argentina is the only team in World Cup history—dating back to 1930—to lose two defenders to injury in a single match.

Nor will we mention that the coach "forgot" to play with three attackers as he had against Egypt (López, Álvarez, and Martínez), and instead—far from that—took Julián off to put in another defender.

Nor will we point out objective details like the disastrous substitution of Montiel for Molina—the man who watched the ball go in against England, only to repeat the feat against Spain.

The clock was ticking, and the Iberian side couldn't get past the giant Martínez ("Dibu"). If it went to penalties, it was game over.

Was there a call to the cell phone of the "ex-good boy" from the commercials, telling him to make the substitution?

We also won't mention that Messi didn't even take the free kicks; Paredes did. Let's see if he can slot it home!

Something strange happened, and they know it.

Up to that point, it was understandable—just as it was in Italy '90. Today, the sentiment "we've gone as far as we can, boys" is common knowledge. But the Germans were classy. They took the cup, packed their bags, left, and celebrated back in Germany.

Spain, however, believes it won the match of the century. Their coach—mentor to the "ex-good boy" from the commercials—admitted: "We won the mother of all matches" (against Argentina). No one told him it was a 1–0 win, and one aided by outside help.

There are blows, insults, and unbridled hatred directed at Argentines.

In 30 days, school starts again in Spain, and bullying returns for kids aged 4 to 17—along with its evil cousin, cyberbullying.

Have they thought about that? Meanwhile, in chilly Buenos Aires, something unsettling is taking place.

— Did you see that something strange happened during the final?

Is that why they call you crazy?

A conspiracy theorist?

A fantasist?

That is unacceptable, folks.

Fact 1: It happened in the land of the Kennedy brothers (John and Robert) and Martin Luther King.

Fact 2: ARA San Juan.

Fact 3: Do you know what the world called the 'Mothers of Plaza de Mayo' before they became famous for their cause?

'The Madwomen of Plaza de Mayo.'

They were seeking a truth—or many truths—yet were branded as mad.

It wasn't fair then, and it isn't fair now.

If something strange happened and we sense it, don't call us crazy.

Oil prices surge due to the new conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.

WALL STREET, July 13 — JMH International Journalists Consortium “The week kicks off with oil back in the spotlight following the escalation of tensions between the United States and Iran over the weekend. The rise in crude prices and heightened tension surrounding the Strait of Hormuz could once again boost local oil and gas companies, although they also add a degree of volatility to the market,” noted Portfolio Personal de Inversiones (PPI). Today, the price of Brent crude is climbing 9.3%, trading at $83.14 per barrel. Reproduction permitted with attribution of the source. JMH International Journalists Consortium
